For his first full-fledged bridal collection, retailing exclusively at Kleinfeld, Christian Siriano looked to France, drawing inspiration from its vintage interiors, Art Nouveau tapestries and the work of Impressionist painters Claude Monet and Edgar Degas. He parlayed his references into a romantic lineup full of classic princess gowns and other, more playful silhouettes — the latter including a cropped-top and skirt set; a sexy, sequined jumpsuit; a ruffled tuxedo and a flirty, feathered minidress. Siriano’s strapless sweetheart gown with a tiered, pleated silk chiffon skirt felt effortlessly feminine, and his pink ombre ballgown — the collection’s showstopping finale look — was bound to fulfill some future bride’s ultimate wedding fantasy.
Charles W. Bunstine II played with dimensions this season, creating a collection filled with beautiful draping and controlled volume. Working with only the most exquisite fabrics, such as French lace and Italian duchess satin, taffeta and jacquard, the designer created a variety of gowns to complement many different types of women, but each dress was consistent with the elegance and sophistication that’s built into the brand’s DNA. Looks ranged from an architectural seamed and draped fluted gown — the last word in minimalistic chic — to a glamorous fitted gown of Chantilly French lace over tulle and crystal paillettes.
Hulu will offer a live-streaming service in 2017 that will offer a mix of cable and broadcast programming as well as news, sports and events. CEO Mike Hopkins confirmed the news at a presentation in New York on Wednesday but gave few specifics. “Very soon, fans will be able to enjoy favorite shows and cheer for favorite teams, all on Hulu,” in a “deeply personalized experience,” he said.

Alice Temperley channeled Fifties evening wear and the last gasp of Old Hollywood glamour in her latest bridal lineup, which featured 10 new styles. Her dresses, all fluid in form, conveyed a feeling of soft romance with ruffled cap sleeves and skirts in tiered layered chiffon and sheer tulle. The winning style, a high-neck, fit-and-flare gown with lattice beadwork and embroidery, came with a floor-length, sheer chiffon cape — to ensure ample drama during that walk down the aisle.
Gowns minimal in glamour but strong in silhouette have become Austin Scarlett’s signature, and for spring he kept his collection paired down, showing only five looks. Inspired by a night out at Carnegie Hall, each gown had a musical name. Key looks included the “Allegra,” an off-the-shoulder trumpet gown with grosgrain ribbon detailing, as well as the “Serenade,” a dramatic, dropped tulle strapless ballgown with 3-D floral appliqués. And for the minimalist bride, he created the strapless silk “Sonata”: a tailored A-line look that had clean lines and a modern touch.
For her spring bridal collection, Kelly Faetanini evoked the Victorian era via gold embroidery, scalloped lace and sweeping princess silhouettes. The culmination came with her finale look: Featuring a 14-carat gold hand-painted goose-feather bodice and an ostrich feather ball skirt, it certainly captured Gilded Age glamour. In contrast, her fit-and-flare “Antoinette” gown, a sleek off-the-shoulder style with a sheer illusion bodice and seamed skirt, stood out for its simple elegance.
Vera Wang’s recent bridal collections have been anything but conventional and for spring 2017 she eschewed tradition once again. Today, Wang debuted her spring 2017 bridal collection with a short film that premiered on her Web site, “Désir à l’Anglaise,” directed by Gordon von Steiner. Wang’s notes on the collection included the following teasers: “Courtly Love, Modern Grandeur, Sheer Seduction, Secret Rendezvous, Silent Signals, Day for Night, Gardens of Regal Delights.”
DeMarcus Ware put the clamps on the loose football and punched Denver’s ticket to the playoffs. ”The ball was on the ground and I was feeling like, ‘There’s no way somebody’s going to take this ball from me,”’ Ware said after his fumble recovery in overtime sealed Denver’s 20-17 victory over Cincinnati on Monday night. Russell Bodine’s catchable shotgun snap eluded AJ McCarron, who was making his second start in place of Andy Dalton.

This month, Marvel Studios announced plans to add six films to its always expanding slate of features. It was expected that the studio would perhaps announce a few of those titles during its Comic-Con presentation on Saturday night, but only one name was revealed: “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will arrive on July 28, 2017. James Gunn will return to write and direct the sequel, which follows next week’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Yes, I’m writing and directing the sequel to #GuardiansoftheGalaxy for theaters July 28 2017. But first go see the first one out next week!

As for the rest of the Marvel schedule, “Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron” is out on May 1, 2015. Peyton Reed’s “Ant-Man” arrives two months later, on July 17, 2015. “Captain America 3” comes next on May 6, 2016. After that and excluding “Guardians 2,” there are seven unnamed or unannounced films on the calendar: July 8, 2016, May 5, 2017, Nov. 3, 2017, May 4, 2018, July 6, 2018, Nov. 2, 2018 and May 3, 2019. (“Doctor Strange” is expected to arrive on that July 8, 2016 slot, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige made no reference to the film during the Comic-Con panel despite rumors that Joaquin Phoenix would be announced as star of the film during the event.)
