Detroit: Become Human, Beyond, Heavy Rain Steam Release Dates Announced

Quantic Dream has officially confirmed the Steam release date for Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls, and Heavy Rain.

Quantic Dream’s three latest games will arrive on Steam simultaneously on June 18, the company announced on Twitter. Quantic Dream had previously released the game’s on the Epic Game Store in 2019. Before that, all three games had been PlayStation exclusives.

 

Earlier this year, Quantic Dream founder David Cage said that the studio had “lots of surprises” in store for fans in 2020. It seems this might have been at least part of what he was talking about.

PC gamers who held off on buying Quantic Dreams’ library will also be able to play a free demo of each game.

Steam doesn’t currently have prices listed for any of the three games, but we can get a potential idea based on what they’re going for on Epic. On Epic, Detroit is currently being sold for $ 39.99, Beyond for $ 19.99, and Heavy Rain for $ 19.99.

The worlds of entertainment and fashion seem to be growing ever closer.
French film studio Gaumont has partnered with e-commerce platform Dropdaze to spin off a designer brand from the Netflix crime drama, “Narcos Los Angeles,” which was just renewed for season 5.
The brand will include men’s designer fashion such as military jackets and pants, graphic tees and hoodies, soccer uniform sets, jewelry with handcrafted-in-L.A. hardware and lifestyle goods.
The collection will be available online this year, according to a release, and through pop-up shops in key markets.
The gangster drama series tells the true story of Colombia’s drug cartels, drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and his interaction with the Drug Enforcement Agency. It has a following worldwide, and is the number one series in the Middle East. The show’s 1970s and ’80s crime boss, lady boss and hustler looks (by costume designer Maria Estela Fernandez) have garnered coverage in publications ranging from Dazed to Oprah magazine.
The collection is the latest foray for streaming TV into fashion branding; in 2017, Hulu enlisted indie New York label Vaquera to create a collection inspired by its hit series “The Handmaid’s Tale.” And Amazon Prime Video’s fashion competition series “Making the Cut” has its finale April 24,

NBA All-Star Weekend Has Become a Fashion Affair

The NBA All-Star Game has become about way more than just basketball — and brands from luxury to food are tapping into it more than ever.
For one thing, the game is no longer just a game, but has become an entire weekend of events, activations, parties and more. The 2020 All-Star Weekend and 69th annual All-Star game in Chicago begins today and stretches through Sunday, when the actual game will be played.
But for companies and brands connected to the National Basketball Association, the game itself is almost an after thought. It’s all the preliminary activities that matter, allowing them to connect with their customer base through sneakers and other memorabilia.

‘Serial,’ The Podcast Obsession Of 2014, To Become A TV Show

When the “Serial” craze first got going last fall, one of the things you would hear from  listeners trying to get you on board was that the podcast was as compelling as a TV show. And it was true: once you started listening, the thirst for new installments rivaled the thirst for new episodes of great shows like “The Good Wife” and “Game of Thrones.”

Looks like Hollywood (being Hollywood) isn’t willing to cede such compulsiveness to public radio. Deadline reported today that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller — the writing-and-directing duo behind comedic hits like “The Lego Movie” and “21 Jump Street” — are adapting “Serial” into a scripted TV series. Several of the podcast’s producers, including Season 1 host Sarah Koenig, “This American Life” host Ira Glass and “Serial” co-producer Julie Snyder, will be executive producers on the show. 

“Chris and Phil take an unexpected approach to telling stories and that is so appealing to us at ‘Serial,'” Snyder said in a statement. “Developing a show with them is exciting because we feel like we speak the same language, only they’re smarter than us.”

There were rumors, for a while, that producers might adapt the content of “Serial” Season 1 – the murder of teenager Hae-Min Lee and the subsequent dubious conviction of her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed — into a movie. But Lord and Miller’s show will take a different tack. It will focus, instead, on the making of the podcast. And it apparently won’t be about the original podcast’s first season. It’s not yet clear whether it will be based on some upcoming season – such as the upcoming one, reportedly on ex-POW Bowe Bergdahl – or a fictional season of their own devising.

A show about a group of podcast producers doesn’t sound all that exciting on the face of it. But Lord and Miller specialize in adapting unpromising material — schlocky ’80s TV shows, plotless children’s books, blocks — into thrilling narratives. So if anyone can do it, it’s them.

If your style prowess is matched only by your penchant for truth and justice, we might have just found your perfect career path: fashion lawyer.

Fordham University has announced that come next fall, it will have students enrolled in a fashion law program—the first of its kind in the world. The program builds on the school’s earlier offerings, including a fashion-specific course and the CFDA-endorsed Fashion Law Institute, and now allows students to receive master’s degrees.

Fashion law, as explained by the Institute’s site, is described as something that:

embraces the legal substance of style, including all of the issues that may arise throughout the life of a garment, starting with the designer’s original idea and continuing all the way to the consumer’s closet. The diverse categories of law that affect the business of fashion include intellectual property, business and finance, international trade and government regulation, and consumer culture and civil rights. From the historical relationship between clothing and culture to current issues involving the globalization of fashion, the newly defined field of fashion law is made to measure for the modern apparel industry.

The new track will result in students receiving their master of laws, or L.L.M., in the fashion field (classes are also set to include modeling law and sustainability). Interested fashion folk who don’t want to necessarily become lawyers can also benefit: a master of studies in law will offer similar insight that can be used by anyone in the designing or retail worlds.

Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA, said she thinks the new offerings will “help us all as an industry, lawyers or not, better understand, grow, and protect our businesses.” A scan of the past few years’ headlines might prove that the degree is needed now more than ever. Just this month, Isabel Marant came under fire for a blouse in her collection that echoes the signature designs of a community of apparel makers in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Last fall, Anderson was awarded “the Dame of Grand Cross of the most prestigious knighthood title of Constantine Order of Saint George,” an honor given to her by Montenegro’s Prince Stefan (a self-declared royal of sorts, who says he’s the descendent of the former ruling family). The official ceremony to accept the official title—the Imperial Countess of Giglio—happened this weekend, and per a letter posted to her foundation’s website, she now seems permitted to sign documents as “Lady Pamela Anderson.” Her sons Brandon and Dylan were also knighted in appreciation for the work they do fighting animal abuse and climate change.

While the honorific comes from Montenegro, the ceremony took place in Italy.

Why Low Self-Esteem People Become Frozen In Bad Relationships

Much of my clinical work over the years has been with individuals and couples who experience a diminished sense of self-worth; low self-esteem. When they find that their relationships have entered the dead zone, they often feel stuck within them — troubled and frustrated. They’re unable to push for revitalizing them, if that’s possible, or leaving, if that would be healthier. And even as they uncover the roots of their low self-worth through therapy, they often remain frozen in a bad, even destructive relationship.

Some recent research provides some empirical confirmation and information about that clinical picture. It found that the partner with diminished self-esteem tends to avoid confronting problems or conflicts to begin with. That avoidance often reflects feelings of insecurity about the partner’s feelings for them. That, in turn, leads to hunkering down and withdrawing from the conflict, which might be resolved through more open, transparent communication.

The research, conducted by the University of Waterloo, confirmed in essence that partners with low self-esteem tend not to voice relationship complaints with their partner because they fear rejection. “There is a perception that people with low self-esteem tend to be more negative and complain a lot more,” says Megan McCarthy, the study’s lead author. “While that may be the case in some social situations, our study suggests that in romantic relationships, the partner with low self-esteem resists addressing problems.”

And, “If your significant other is not engaging in open and honest conversation about the relationship,” says McCarthy, “it may not be that they don’t care, but rather that they feel insecure and are afraid of being hurt. We’ve found that people with a more negative self-concept often have doubts and anxieties about the extent to which other people care about them,” she says. “This can drive low self-esteem people toward defensive, self-protective behavior, such as avoiding confrontation.”

A summary of the research also points out that people with low self-esteem’s resistance to address concerns may stem from a fear of negative outcomes. That is, they may believe that if they speak up and confront what troubles them, they risk rejection from their partner; and that, in turn, will damage their relationship. Consequently, that tends to lead to greater mutual dissatisfaction in the relationship.

“We may think that staying quiet, in a ‘forgive and forget’ kind of way, is constructive, and certainly it can be when we feel minor annoyances,” says McCarthy. “But when we have a serious issue in a relationship, failing to address those issues directly can actually be destructive.”

It’s good to see empirical support for familiar patterns that men and women often bring to psychotherapy. This can help them clarify how and why they perpetuate the negative relationships that they hope to heal; and what they need to deal with to bring about some positive movement.

How Meditation and Breath of Fire Will Help You Become a Master of Your Art

For the last few years I have been doing vipassana meditation and a breathing technique called breath of fire every morning and evening. These exercises have calmed me down and have increased my creativity in ways that I never before could have imagined.

Vipassana Meditation was created by the Buddha over 2,500 years ago and is still taught for free at centers and retreats throughout the world. Breath of Fire is a three minute breathing exercise that is a part of Kundalini Yoga.

Being Creative is like fishing in an Ocean. You are lucky if you can catch a fish. I consider catching a fish like catching a great idea. You can catch ideas, but how many of them are actually good and how many of them can you put together to make a project that is substantial? It could take months before you have one great song or one great script or one great flow of ideas that make you proud.

If you do breath of fire for three minutes daily within six months you will not be fishing in an ocean, you will be fishing in a fish tank. All your ideas will be right there in front of you. You will be able to grasp them more quickly and more easily. You will not spend weeks or months trying to find the fishes. You will find the great ideas in days or even hours. Imagine that? Imagine being able to hold onto and mold great ideas within days?

If you add twenty minutes of vipassana meditation daily on top of the three minutes of breath of fire in six months you will be fishing in a fish tank that is lighted. Now you are playing the game of creativity with ease and joy. Imagine being able to see all your ideas with such ease and also being able to connect the ideas?

Making a decision is a difficult trait for most creative types. We have so many ideas that we want to pursue that focus is often difficult. With breath of fire and meditation you will know which ideas to focus on and which ideas to discard. You will be able to clearly see how ideas match with each other and you will be able to clearly see how past ideas might now work with current ideas. You will become a Master of your Art.

I am now at such peace and ease with my life. My creative process is so fulfilling and enjoyable. I am OK with myself and that in itself is very important. Creative types have been known to be very hard on themselves. From Jim Belushi to Kurt Cobain to Robin Williams; we have seen our fair share of creative types being out of control. With meditation and breathing, I believe the suicide rates amongst creatives will disappear and the amount of ease and joy will increase.

One must enjoy their creative process. One must love their creative process. And one must be fulfilled in their creative process. Breath of Fire and Vipassana Meditation helps us achieve these goals.

When you give yourself the space to love who you authentically are, you are able to live your life wholeheartedly.

Well I’m all for it! And anyone can allow themselves that sort of satisfaction and independence because we all have the power to become the best versions of ourselves. So here are a few easy steps to take toward your own journey of accepting and loving who you really are as an individual and finding your personal sense of freedom:

1. F**k what people think of you
Understand that when people judge or criticize you, they are saying more about themselves then they are about you. I advise you to listen to what others say, but consider deeply — is this about you or them? Sometimes criticism can be helpful and beneficial for you. Other times, it may be directed toward you but not about you, so leave the purposeless stuff behind.

2. Don’t let society define you
This has to do with what’s expected of you. Courageous individuals and groups are breaking down the old-school compartments and labels, and have been for decades. Women were expected to be homemakers, men have to be the major ‘breadwinners’, same sex marriages aren’t acceptable, and more. Those ancient-minded ‘faux pas’ are becoming the new normal if they’re not already. You must do what brings YOU fulfillment.

3. Observe your intuition and inner thoughts
The only way to find yourself is to pay attention to what goes on in your own mind. As mentioned before, we are shaped by what we’ve learned throughout life. Make the differentiation between what you truly desire and what you’ve been conditioned to accept.

4. What makes you happy?
Write it down, make a list, keep a journal… but answer the question! And the second part to the question is: What are you passionate about? The answer to these two questions will be what drives you. Bring these interests, ideas and beliefs into your world.

5. The “golden rule”
Treat others as you want to be treated. Taking others’ into consideration will shed light on who you are as well. As mentioned in item 1: judgments and criticisms are usually about the person doing the judging or criticizing. We can also self-reflect in our generous acts as well, such as choosing one act of kindness over another because you can relate to it. Before you direct any sort of energy – positive or negative -toward someone else, find out where the motivation comes from within yourself. As you gain more awareness of yourself and how you act toward others, you will find the root of where your intentions come from; therefore, getting to know your true self.

In a dramatic week for world football, Sepp Blatter, the President of FIFA, gave himself a red card and announced his resignation, and Chris Christie declared his goal of replacing him.

At a hastily arranged news conference in a Dunkin Donuts, Governor Christie said:

“I have always believed that I would make a great President, so for the benefit of the people of New Jersey, America and the world, I will be formally announcing my candidacy for the Presidency of FIFA as soon as I’m done eating. “

As reporters collectively choked on their frosted maple crèmes, Christie continued:

“I have to tell you guys that I would be the perfect person to replace Blatter.

I appreciate that a deep knowledge of football is essential for this job, and I have it! I’ve been watching the Cowboys, the Giants and the Eagles my entire life and I will bring all that know-how to the table for the benefit of American football fans throughout the world.

I also hear that running FIFA is like running the mafia. That’s awesome because I’m the Governor of New Jersey for Christ sakes, so enough said about my qualifications in that regard.

Additionally, I know that the new head of FIFA must have a lot of experience dealing with the US Department of Justice in ongoing criminal investigations. Well, guess what? I’ve been doing that for well over a year now!

Most importantly, I believe FIFA really needs someone to build all the bridges that have been burnt during this entire fiasco. And as I’m sure you will agree, whenever anyone thinks of bridges nowadays, they immediately think of me!”

After his announcement, Christie did not immediately respond to questions from reporters, citing an urgent need to finish his doughnut.

In further developments, other republican FIFA presidential hopefuls also declared their candidacies, notably Rick Perry, Scott Walker and Sarah Palin — the latter of whom called the decision to give the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, “the worst supreme court ruling since Roe v. Wade.”

No matter who else throws their hat into the ring, Christie is likely be the most appealing candidate to FIFA sponsors such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken — particularly given his extraordinary rates of consumption.

However, when contacted for comment, Irma Crook, one of the few remaining executives at FIFA, said: “Chris Christie wants to become the new President of FIFA? Oh my God, quick! Let’s get Sepp Blatter back!”

The Right and Wrong Way to Become a Professional Wedding Planner

There’s a right way and a wrong way to gain experience in the wedding planning career field. The right way is to get involved in planning events (of any kind) and get an internship or a job that gives you the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of wedding planning so you actually have the experience you need to flawlessly execute the most important day of brides and grooms lives.

But let’s start out with the wrong way to learn how to plan a destination wedding – lying or faking it will destroy your reputation (before you even have one) and ruin the first most important day in a couple’s life.

It is not uncommon for wedding planners to refer clients to one another when a planner encounters a client who wants something she doesn’t know how to do. In most cases, this happens when an engaged couple goes to their hometown wedding planner or a trusted travel agent and asks for direction.

For a travel agent, the logical thing to do is direct the clients to a reputable wedding planner at their destination and stick to the travel logistics. Trying to use this as an opportunity to get your foot in the door as a wedding planner is a very bad idea. Experienced professional destination wedding planners are busy people. We have plenty of legitimate clients calling us to plan their weddings. I have less than zero desire to teach or mentor a travel agent who might, eventually, become a competitor. I spend plenty of time teaching my interns, thank you very much.

More disturbingly, I’ve received a number of what, at first, appeared to be legitimate referrals (yes, we get those) from hometown wedding planners with clients who wanted to get married someplace else. For that sort of referral, we play a flat “thank you” fee if the client hires us, and then our company takes it from there. Unfortunately, unethical wanna-be destination wedding planners with absolutely no experience use the same tactic to try to learn how to do their job through somebody else. That’s not ethical and I won’t work with them.

Let me explain more clearly for anybody who thinks this sounds mean or unfair. This doesn’t just happen to me, as other colleagues in the industry have complained about it as well.

Contacting a pro and saying you are a “wedding planner” with a destination client and you want to “work together” is fine if you are actually a wedding planner. But if I can’t find you online, you’re not on WeddingWire, and your Facebook page has eight likes (all from your family), you aren’t a wedding planner. Someday you might be, but right now, you’re not. And if you’re advertising your services as such, you are a big fat liar and a fraud. You might want to check out the truth-in-advertising laws too before one of your victims (aka clients) realizes they’ve been duped and sues you for everything you do not have.

I have spent almost eight years honing my skills as a destination wedding planner. I worked hard to learn how to do an excellent job with all sorts of clients in a variety of destinations in the Caribbean, and I do not plan to give any of my tips and tricks away to a competitor, no matter how she sugar-coats it as a request to “work together.” I mentor interns year-round and trust me, those girls leave my company with the tools to plan a wedding just about anywhere. In exchange, they work their butts off for me while they’re here. We give them housing near the beach and a stipend, but they give us their heart and soul as they struggle to make each client’s day as perfect as possible. They want to succeed and make my company look good in the process. It’s win-win for me and the interns.

There is literally zero upside to me helping another wedding planner impress her clients in my own neighborhood, so to speak. “Working together” to plan a wedding when one of us has a clue – and the other does not – means that I’ll have to do triple the number of conference calls (she’ll want to discuss everything before and after the client call) and get half the credit for the final result, if that. In fact, that planner may well call herself “experienced” after I plan that initial wedding and start advertising her services as a destination wedding planner. She is not. And I won’t be a part of her ruse. Planning one destination wedding while somebody else does all the heavy lifting, and flying in a few days beforehand to enjoy the events, doesn’t make you a wedding planner. It makes you an annoying guest who wants to have input once she’s arrived. We get enough of those already, thank you anyway.

When I first started getting these inquiries from other planners, I got excited, I thought it was going to open up a whole new marketing opportunity for me, working with wedding pros all over the United States. Instead, I found that most of the planners who were contacting me weren’t really wedding planners at all. Having a “wedding planning certification” (what is that anyway?) and claiming you’ve successfully executed lots of weddings (even if they were all family members or besties and not a one of them actually paid you), does not make you a “professional” or “experienced” wedding planner. Sure, it’s great for your resume and sounds good in interview when you’re telling them how much you do know, but it doesn’t qualify you to handle a wedding and tens of thousands of dollars of a bride and groom’s money.

I’ll just say it – pretending you’re a destination wedding planner to get the client, and then calling somebody who really is a wedding planner to try and split the fee so they can do all the work or teach you how to do it, is total and utter bullshit. And you will get busted. Oh, you might make it to the actual wedding. But when the shit hits the fan and you don’t have the right permits, can’t figure out the marriage license paperwork, or don’t know what to do in that destination when a guest has a medical emergency, you’ll be outed for the fraud you are and destroyed on social media by your clients and their guests. 2015-05-21-1432242793-5033039-110813_SandyMalonePortraits422640x427.jpg

A couple of years ago my staff and I dropped everything to fix a wedding in distress because of a wanna-be wedding planner from Louisiana that got herself in over her head. We were hired by a nearly hysterical Mother of the Bride less than two months before the big day, and we had to start from scratch.

The planner (who it turned out had a full-time day job in a totally different field because she wasn’t actually a wedding planner) had been hired to plan a wedding in Mexico, assuring the clients that passports weren’t necessary for U.S. residents. Wrong. That’s how the wedding ended up in Puerto Rico.

Because the planner knew even less about the Caribbean than Mexico (is that even possible?), she’d put the guests in a hotel more than an hour away from the wedding venue where the wedding party was staying, and they’d all have to travel by bus – and not via a scenic route – to and from all of the wedding events at a cost of literally thousands of dollars to the wedding couple. The first thing we did was move all of the guests to a hotel a few minutes from the wedding venue. And then we fixed everything else that was a mess. I’d name and shame that planner except she had a clause in her contract forbidding her clients to review here ANYWHERE – a huge red flag when you’re hiring somebody – and I don’t want to cause my happy clients any grief.

My point is that misleading clients about your level of wedding planning experience is a ridiculous thing to do. You’ll get busted fast. And trying to get an experienced professional to plan it for you so you can take the credit is shady, at best. Anybody with sense isn’t going to let you take advantage of them like that.

If you want to be a wedding planner – hometown or destination – you have to get experience before you advertise yourself as a “professional.” If you’re don’t qualify for an internship because of your age (lots of folks are doing middle-age career changes), that’s not a non-starter for your new career. Believe it or not, there are literally tons of opportunities in your own community to help you learn how to plan events – fundraisers, fun runs, food drives, carnivals – all of these sorts of activities have planning committees that do all the work to make them happen. While they’re not likely to hand over the reins to you the first time you volunteer, prove your value and the next time you’ll have more responsibility.

If you’re lucky enough to be young and still in school when you’re reading this, you are literally surrounded by event planning opportunities. From Student Government, to Greek organizations, to religious clubs, to athletic booster clubs, literally everywhere you look, there’s something going on. All you have to do is sign up and get involved. That way, when you apply for a wedding planning internship or job later on, you already have legitimate event planning experience on your resume.

Experience is what will teach you how to be a wedding planner, and it’s what is going to give you the confidence (and make your clients feel confident about your ability) to stand at the helm and steer the ship. Because to a large degree, that’s what you’re doing. Not only do you have to do all the pre-planning and vendor coordination ahead of a wedding, it’s your job to keep the trains running on time, do quality control, and supervise all the vendors and perfect the little details on the wedding weekend. If you don’t know how to trouble-shoot real problems at a wedding, you’re not ready to be in charge. Period. A university degree in hospitality or tourism will give you a lot more foundation for a future career running events than some useless, undefined “Wedding Planner Certification,” but even with a diploma, you have to have the practical experience (and legitimate references for it) on your resume or nobody is going to be interested.

The moral of the story here is that you cannot cheat to become a good wedding planner. You can’t steal somebody else’s work as your own, you can’t subcontract the work to another planner and tell your client you’re doing the work, and most importantly, you cannot fake your way through it. If you try, you might end up with a lot of unhappy folks stuck in Mexico without passports.

This Movie Theater PSA Is Inspiring Kids To Become Teachers

A public service announcement encouraging young people to become teachers has been playing in hundreds of movie theaters around the country in recognition of national teacher appreciation week May 4 to May 9.

The PSA, called #TEACHNow, has been playing in nearly 400 theaters as part of Participant Media’s TEACH Campaign, which aims to stimulate great teaching.

4 Things You Need to Know to Become ‘Fearless’ in Your Life

There’s a huge myth around fear that I want to dispel today and it’s that certain people are more fearless than others. I’m sure there are exceptions to this, but for the majority of seemingly fearless people, the correct term would be more like fear-filled.

I’ve done a lot of big things in my life and business lately, as well as in my relationship, finances and everything in between, but I’m not fearless.

The truth is, I’m riddled with fear more often than not.
Creating a life and business around your passion, going deeper into intimacy and connection in relationships, putting yourself out there, trying new things, expressing yourself in whatever way you do… it’s all scary as hell. It’s uncomfortable, challenging, terrifying and hard. But when you commit to creating an amazing life, fear’s just part of the process. People who appear fearless are the ones who understand this.

It’s not at all about an absence of fear… it’s about knowing that fear will always be there, even more so the deeper you descend on the journey, and letting it guide you rather than deter you from moving forward. I live a fear-filled life because that’s what it takes to create amazing things and attract amazing people, experiences and opportunities.

Four things you need to know to become “fearless” in your life:

1) Fear will never go away unless you settle into a rut.
Really sit with that for a moment… if you’re not experiencing fear in your life right now, chances are you’re sticking to what you know, settling for less than you deserve, and you likely aren’t doing much growing either. If you’re doing the work, building amazing things, and diving deeper into your truth, you’re experiencing fear and discomfort. It comes with the territory and there’s no way around it. So if you’re not, take an honest look at your life and see if you’ve settled or fallen into a comfortable rut to avoid the discomfort.

2) It gets easier with time.
At this point in my journey, I’m pretty comfortable with fear. I’m launching a newish website and offerings, putting out my first book, diving deep and dark in my personal development and relationships, letting go of things, shifting my life and business, and generally doing more and more of the work it takes to create an amazing life. It’s scary, hard and uncomfortable. I’m terrified every time I send out a vulnerable blog post, release a new module for my program (despite doing this work for almost a decade), and step further into my truth.

3) Fear can be the best fuel if you let it.
I’ve talked and written about this many times as one of my favorite quotes from Robert Heller, “fear is excitement without the breath.” Fear is an awesome kind of energy that can be easily shifted into energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and fuel if you stop fighting it. Rather than running away or retreating, or avoiding it all together, feel the fear and breathe into it deeply. Let it turn into the nervous, excited, and jittery energy it can be and then move forward. I do this often and it always helps me tackle the scary things in my life and businesses with more ease than tension.

4) Bravery comes from vulnerability, not fearlessness.
Something Brené Brown says that I love is, “Vulnerability is our most accurate measure of courage.” If you want to be brave, “fearless” and courageous, you have to be vulnerable, there’s no way around it. Creating amazing things in your life and business requires depth, connection, expression, and truth. It requires you to put yourself out there in more ways than one and that’s not easy, but it’s so worth it. The more vulnerable I get, the deeper my personal relationships and connection to my clients and audience have become. I can’t count the number of blog posts or social media updates I’ve hesitated to hit send on, and then had to walk away from the computer so I couldn’t quickly “undo” them. Those are the times I’ve most deeply connected with you. And it wasn’t until I started getting more vulnerable that my business really began to blossom.

When Barcodes Become The Basis For Contemporary Art

What if the barcode on your favorite cereal box could be transformed into a glitched-out, abstract artwork, dripping with geometric visuals and robotic melodies?

Thankfully Dmitry Morozov, a Moscow-based multimedia artist, is here to turn our far-out technological dreams into a reality. In an an interactive installation entitled “Post Code,” Morozov transforms the omnipresent consumerist icons into digital landscapes of melting colors and shapes.

To do so, Morozov created an artistically inclined mechanism that scans the barcodes of various objects, turning the encoded digits into post-card sized works of glitch art. Along with visual translations, the mechanism also retrieves the melodic beeps and hums hidden within the codes, extracting from the simple swipe-happy bars unique combinations of both sound and sight.

While many barcode-centric artworks focus on the bizarre relationship between buyers and goods or the monotonous nature of the black-and-white codes, Morozov’s works view the tiny designs as individual sites of beauty. Morozov frees the barcodes from their solely digital existence, blessing them with a physical form — and a beautiful one at that.

As the artists writes on his website, “Thus, such exclusively digital object [sic] becomes means of obtaining an artifact, suitable for archaic, but ultimately human mode of communication — a postcard.”
