NASCAR and Sprayground to Unveil First Collab for Cup Series Race

NASCAR and Sprayground are launching their first backpack collection on May 17, coinciding with the first race of the NASCAR Cup Series at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.
The auto racing company is the first major sport to resume competition since lockdowns began to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The capsule is comprised of two car-racing-inspired backpacks with compartments for a 17-inch laptop, USB sticks, wires and cables, compact cameras, external hard drives and other accessories. While both backpacks bear Sprayground’s shark-mouth design, one backpack has NASCAR’s logo over a camouflage design and the other features a top-down view of NASCAR’s South Carolina race track.
“This collection was really unique to design. Similar to the cutting edge of the race track, and with the speed of the race in mind, we used the same sleek precision when creating these bags,” said Sprayground founder and creative director, David Ben-David. “We’re stoked about these new designs and think our fans are going to love them.”
Founded in 2010, Sprayground has collaborated with the NBA, Marvel, Shaquille O’Neal, Spike Lee, Buzz Aldrin, the Colombian Army and humanitarian organizations.

NFL, FaZe Clan Reveal Apparel Collab for Draft Day

The National Football League and gaming organization FaZe Clan have partnered to celebrate the first virtual NFL Draft and Draft-a-Thon fund-raiser with a capsule collection.
The capsule, which is composed of a T-shirt for $ 40 and a hoodie for $ 80, features NFL and FaZe Clan branding and logos for all NFL teams, as well as designs inspired by football arcade games from the late Nineties and early Aughts. The collection launches on April 23, the first day of the NFL Draft, on the NFL Shop and FaZe Clan web sites.
FaZe Clan chief executive officer Lee Trink said the capsule represents the first time the NFL has collaborated with a team outside of its organization. The professional football league’s relationship with FaZe Clan dates to the beginning of the 2019 season, when the league tapped the gaming organization to host a kickoff party that was attended by rapper and FaZe Clan member Lil Yachty and NBA All-Star Ben Simmons. Attendees also received jerseys on which they could press FaZe Clan logos.

Colin Kaepernick and Nike Collab Sells Out

Christmas came early for Colin Kaepernick.
The former NFL quarterback’s new sneaker line with Nike, the “Air Force 1,” sold out in less than two hours on Dec. 23. 
The shoes, which retailed for $ 110 and featured an embroidered portrait of Kaepernick on the heel and his personal logo on the tongue of the sneakers, went on sale at 10 a.m. EST Monday. They were gone by noon the same day.

The Air Force 1 line has been a staple at Nike since 1982 and “has crossed the boundary of court to street and, along the way, gone from trend to staple to a global streetwear standard,” according to Nike’s web site. 
The latest, the Nike Air Force 1 x Colin Kaepernick, was “inspired by the voice of the athlete.”

Nike wouldn’t comment on just how many units of the Kaepernick iteration it sold. But instead said in a statement, “This Air Force 1 season, Nike partnered with a collective of collaborators to design an AF1 that connects to their life personally. L’Agence Marks First Collab With Last Marilyn Monroe Photos

Jeff Rudes knows what his L’Agence shopper wants and feels the brand’s first collaboration featuring Marylin Monroe is the right note.
“Our customer is sophisticated and this speaks to her,” Rudes, cofounder and chief executive officer, said of a new limited collection of pieces featuring photos of Monroe by Bert Stern, a shoot that became famous as the actor’s last before her death. “A lot of our customers are 35 and up, she goes up to 70 years old, and she’s probably already familiar with Bert Sterns.”
But deciding on any collaboration, as it’s the very first for L’Agence, which Rudes cofounded in 2008 a few years after founding J Brand, was tricky.
“I was one of the first to do fashion collaborations at J Brand with Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler, but L’Agence isn’t a jean brand, we’re a fashion brand, we’re lifestyle, so we’re limited in who we can collaborate with.”
In the end, Rudes approached the Bert Stern Trust and was given the ability to choose among any of his “Last Sitting” photos of Monroe. The most sought after of which are the photos Monroe struck an orange “x,” the photos she didn’t like, and that color and the “x” are

Luxury Lingerie Brand Hanro Teams With The Little Market for Latest Collab

Retail companies and brands continue to rack in record sales from this year’s Black Friday through Cyber Monday shopping weekend. But Hanro is giving back — just in time for Giving Tuesday. 
The luxury lingerie and loungewear brand is the latest retailer to team with The Little Market, donating 100 percent of proceeds to the nonprofit when shoppers purchase The Little Market x Hanro lingerie bag. 
“It was a natural fit,” Hannah Skvarla, cofounder of The Little Market, said of the partnership with Hanro. “We are like-minded companies that prioritize quality and value conscious consumers.” 
The travel-size canvas bag, which retails for $ 15, is available while supplies last in Hanro’s Los Angeles and New York City stores, as well as at shop.hanrousa.com. 

Proceeds from the lingerie bag will go to support The Little Market.

Slightly Alabama Branches Out Into Apparel With Cockpit Collab

Like it or not, Dana Glaeser is now a retailer.
On Tuesday night, the founder of the Slightly Alabama artisan leather goods brand celebrated the one-year anniversary of the opening of his retail store at 350 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village.
The location was initially part of the Love, Bleecker program conceived by Brookfield Property Group last year to help revitalize the street. The real estate developer acquired seven retail spaces and negotiated with several brands to open stores there as a way to position the street as a place to once again find art, commerce and culture.
Slightly Alabama was one of them, taking over a 2,200-square-foot space and filling it with not only its own upscale leather products, but also a selection of similarly minded men’s brands including Cockpit, Freenote Cloth, Krammer & Stoudt and more.
The success of the concept prompted Glaeser to relocate his workshop from Brooklyn and set up shop at the back of the store permanently, even though he has now transitioned to a more-traditional rent structure with Brookfield as his landlord.
During the year anniversary event, Glaeser also showcased his first apparel collaboration, a leather motorcycle vest co-branded with Cockpit. A country gentleman’s jacket is in the works

Luka Sabbat Teams With Champion on Collab Celebrating 100 Years

The artwork for Luka Sabbat’s new collaboration with Champion stemmed from an obsession of his: scans of brain activity.
“There’s this thing in Malibu that my friends and I have done,” Sabbat explains over the phone on Halloween afternoon. The multihyphenate “Grown-ish” actor, influencer and artist is on his way to get strawberry pancakes with a friend, then they’re going trick-or-treating. “This doctor puts plasma in your blood, you do a bunch of exercises and it tracks your brain activity. It lets you know if you have an overactive brain, a sleepy brain and which parts of your brain you’re using most.
“I have an overactive brain,” he adds. “I always have to do a million things.”
But the project with Champion currently has his full focus. As part of its 100-year anniversary campaign, the clothing brand tapped Sabbat to not only create a piece of art that’ll appear on the Champion reverse weave hoodie, he also worked with the nonprofit organization Art Start, with whom Champion has partnered.
Sabbat says he was inspired by what he saw from youth involved in Art Start’s Emerging Artists program — and reminded of his own artful inclinations from when he was younger.

LeBron James’ Unknwn and Thom Browne to Launch Collab

This holiday season will see the launch of a collaboration between Thom Browne and Miami-based retailer Unknwn.
The designer label confirmed there will be a new collaboration with the fashion and footwear retailer co-owned by LeBron James, Jaron Kanfer and Frankie Walker Jr.
Little was shared about the upcoming capsule except that it will be a nine-piece collection that will launch in-store and online in December after the opening of Unknwn’s store in the trendy Wynwood district in Miami.
The relationship between Browne, the NBA great and Unknwn goes back several seasons. The retailer carries the brand online, and James is often spotted wearing the designer’s wares. During the NBA Playoffs in 2018, Brown spearheaded a big fashion moment by having Browne create matching custom tailored looks for his entire Cleveland Cavaliers team.

Shortly after, Browne signed a three-year partnership with FC Barcelona to be the team’s official off-field and formalwear uniform provider. Following the deal, Ermenegildo Zegna Group in August 2018 acquired an 85 percent stake in Thom Browne.
The brand also launched in October its first line of fragrances at its stores, online and Dover Street Market.

Ex-Pro Skater Jimmy Gorecki Talks DC Shoes Collab, Fashion Career

If you ask Jimmy Gorecki about his upcoming collaboration with DC Shoes, he’ll tell you it was 20 years in the making.
The ex-professional skater and Philadelphia native grew up skating with DC Shoes skaters Stevie Williams and Josh Kalis and admired the visibility they brought to their home city. DC launched sneakers with both skaters this year and partnered with Gorecki on his first shoe, the JSP DC Kalis 1, which launches on Oct. 26.
The collaboration also includes apparel that will retail between $ 50 and $ 115, and is full of references that nod to Gorecki’s humble skate beginnings, his inspirations and his love for the city of Brotherly Love. For one, the cross streets of John F. Kennedy Plaza — known as Love Park — where Gorecki skated are on the graphic long-sleeve T-shirt and sweatpants, as well as the date he was able to complete the backslide lipslide skate trick on the Municipal Building rail.
The sneaker silhouette is reminiscent of the Nike Bo Jackson Trainer SC — “a shoe that always resonated with me,” Gorecki said — and sports a blue and orange colorway like the original pair and Bo’s number 34, which when flipped, is the number branded

Alife Talks 20 Years, Lee Jeans Collab and Future

Alife is hitting the reset button in its 20th year in business.
Since Rob Cristofaro founded the brand in 1999, Alife has been a popular name among New York City’s skaters, ball players and the streetwear community. The brand was one of the first in that market to introduce collaborations and a footwear collection and now, Alife is ringing in 20 years with renewed energy.
“We haven’t ever done an anniversary or really put much energy behind any of the anniversaries that we’ve had,” said Cristofaro. “What you’ll start seeing from the 20th anniversary onward is the culmination of consistent releases, launches, projects and executions.”
The New York City-based brand last year launched collaboration footwear with Crocs and this year released a capsule collection with the Brooklyn Museum and artist Faith Ringgold. The company is relaunching footwear in October, and also this fall will offer a new collaboration with Lee Jeans, extend its partnership with Adidas, and work with the Bronx Museum of the Arts for its upcoming exhibition on photographer Henry Chalfant titled “Henry Chalfant: Art vs. Transit, 1977-1987.”

Iggy Azalea doesn’t seem too happy with Britney Spears over the success, or lack thereof, of their track, “Pretty Girls.”

During a Twitter Q&A session on Sunday, Azalea appeared to throw shade at Spears over the minimal promotion of their duet, which dropped in May and peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. 

The rapper’s remarks about the duet came after a Twitter user posted: “Even if PG flopped a little bit still getting a lot of views on YT and it’s the summer anthem of 2015, so whatever we love you.” 

When a pop music fan board shared Azalea’s tweets and accused her of shading Spears, the Australia native shot back. 

She then called out the press for skewing her comments. 

Last month, at the Billboard Music Awards Azalea gushed about getting to work with the pop star. 

“It’s not something that I ever anticipated happening … And I didn’t know I’d end up making such a crossover mesh of pop and rap where that would be a collaboration that would be possible,” she said. “In the last two years I kind of transitioned my style so much to where that could be plausible. So I didn’t when I was younger, but it’s really quite surreal.”
