Will a Larger Adidas Yeezy Boost Release Hurt the Brand?

Kanye West always wanted this.
Not having royalties and not being able to produce more sneakers were the main reasons he left Nike. And upon signing his deal with Adidas, which started in 2013, he made it clear that he wanted more people to have access to his sneakers. Today he’s making good on that promise with the release of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 in an all-white colorway that retails for $ 220. Customers will only be able to purchase the sneakers directly through and the Yeezy Supply web site. They are reportedly releasing 1 million pairs of shoes.
West’s influence, along with scarcity, is what has bolstered the Yeezy footwear line. But what happens when a Yeezy Boost style becomes even more ubiquitous? Will it have the same trajectory as the Jordan brand, which lost market share and cache due to overproduction. WWD spoke with people in the sneaker industry to see if the release will hurt or help the brand.
Matt Cohen, vice president of business strategy and development at Goat, a sneaker resale app
WWD: What do you think of this release?
Matt Cohen: This is an interesting release because we’ve never seen something like this. For one, it’s a restock,

Sister Sledge Performs for Pope Francis in Philly, Readies to Release New Single

Sister Sledge needs only three words to identify them: “We Are Family.”
That 1978 breakout hit rocketed the Philadelphia foursome of Debbie. Joni, Kim and Kathy Sledge to fame. The latter has since gone solo, but nearly 40 years after the song’s release, the sisters were back at it Saturday, belting out the song for Pope Francis at the Festival of Families.
In a phone interview earlier this week, Joni Sledge said, “This song in particular is a gift. In this particular case, it was made for this day.”
And no matter how much of an anthem it has become, the song’s relevance remains intact, Joni Sledge said. “It’s just as powerful today. That’s one of the good things about it. It teaches respect. It’s kind of deep and teaches [that] we don’t have to profile, we don’t have to wear the latest fashions — we can just be one big family.”
To be chosen to perform for the pope, the Sledges submitted a video that featured clips from their world tour last year to the festival’s organizers. They also wrote a letter together about faith, family and love, morals they share with the pope. “Growing up, we honored his view which is very open

Discover the Magic of EFT for Bullying (help children release the emotional effects of bullying)

Discover the Magic of EFT for Bullying (help children release the emotional effects of bullying)

How can you stop bullying and help children gain confidence?Knowing what to do and how to help is one of the biggest problems facing parents or care-givers today, with 7/10 children being bullied and, very sadly, some trying to take their own life, this niche book is written to help children deal with the “emotions” they feel about being bulliedBy using simple exercises in this book, children will naturally feel better about the situation and gain a level of confidence and self-esteem, which will enable them to enjoy life to the fullest, and parents or care-givers can also have a sense of relief. For those that do not know about EFT, otherwise known as ‘tapping’, it is very simple and easy to use and considered one of ‘the’ best self-help tools on the market today. By lightly tapping on certain points of the face and body, known as acupressure points (fully explained in the book) it takes the emotional pain out of bullying and not only that, it gives children the opportunity of doing something and help them take control of their emotions when feeling vulnerable or helpless. This is the very first EFT for Bullying book on the market today, and different to other EFT books, a character in a story takes a child on a journey of what they may be going through themselves and clearly describes how to release their feelings by using EFT tapping to create a special kind of magic. With individual tap along guides for each of the four major bullying aspects, cyberbullying, intimidating or covert bullying, physical bullying and verbal bullying; a tapping chart and guide; a way to measure feelings and put them into words and comprehensive notes for parents, teachers or care-givers, this makes for an extremely powerful and positive book. The bottom line is that by using the tools provided in the book, victims of bullying feel better, gain confidence and self-esteem, and can take control of both the situation and how they are feeling about it in a safe and effective way. This positive,

The Water Diviner Official US Release Trailer (2015) – Russell Crowe Movie HD

Russell Crowe’s directorial debut, “The Water Diviner,” is an epic and inspiring tale of one man’s life-changing journey of discovery. Crowe plays Australian farmer Joshua Connor, who, in 1919, goes in search of his three missing sons, last known to have fought against the Turks in the bloody Battle of Gallipoli. Arriving in Istanbul, he is thrust into a vastly different world, where he encounters others who suffered their own losses in the conflict: Ayshe (Olga Kurylenko), a strikingly beautiful but guarded hotelier raising a child alone; her young, spirited son, Orhan (Dylan Georgiades), who finds a friend in Connor; and Major Hasan (Yilmaz Erdoğan), a Turkish officer who fought against Connor’s boys and may be this father’s only hope. With seemingly insurmountable obstacles in his path, Connor must travel across the battle-scarred Turkish landscape to find the truth… and his own peace.

North Korea Blames U.S. For Shutting Down Its Internet, Says Obama Was Behind ‘The Interview’ Release

HYUNG-JIN KIM, Associated Press

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea called President Barack Obama “a monkey” and blamed the U.S. on Saturday for shutting down its Internet amid the hacking row over the comedy “The Interview.”

North Korea has denied involvement in a crippling cyberattack on Sony Pictures but has expressed fury over the comedy depicting an assassination of its leader Kim Jong Un. After Sony Pictures initially called off the release in a decision criticized by Obama, the movie has opened this week.

On Saturday, the North’s powerful National Defense Commission, the country’s top governing body led by Kim, said that Obama was behind the release of “The Interview.” It described the movie as illegal, dishonest and reactionary.

“Obama always goes reckless in words and deeds like a monkey in a tropical forest,” an unidentified spokesman at the commission’s Policy Department said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

He also accused Washington for intermittent outages of North Korea websites this week, after the U.S. had promised to respond to the Sony hack.

There was no immediate reaction from the White House on Saturday.

According to the North Korea commission’s spokesman, “the U.S., a big country, started disturbing the Internet operation of major media of the DPRK, not knowing shame like children playing a tag.”

The commission said the movie was the results of a hostile U.S. policy toward North Korea, and threatened the U.S. with unspecified consequences.

North Korea and the U.S. remain technically in a state of war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty. The rivals also are locked in an international standoff over the North’s nuclear and missile programs and its alleged human rights abuses. The U.S. stations about 28,500 troops in South Korea as deterrence against North Korean aggression.

Heal and Release What No Longer Serves You

I’m a huge fan of healing and release. As we peel away past layers of ourselves, hurts, limiting beliefs that no longer serve us, and anything else that needs to be cleared, we step more fully into the person we’re here to be in this life.

As part of my TAT Acupressure certification, I get to work with a sweet soul from India as we give one another sessions. In our most recent session, we both showed up with a similar focus. She was focusing on feeling like she didn’t have enough time and always feeling rushed. I was focused on feeling the pressure that comes with major expansion in my business, and the fears and worries of someone who has crashed and burned spectacularly in a past businesses.

The fears we carry from our past weigh us down, and often cause us to recreate the exact same situations we set out to avoid.

During our sessions we focus on silent conversation with whoever or whatever shows up… and there I was, facing my younger, less experienced self. The person who, while building a pretty great and successful business, also made some really poor choices and decisions financially, with clients, and just in life in general.

When my younger self appeared to me, a whole swell of love and compassion washed over me. I found myself saying to her that it was okay… more than okay. All of what she went through was so necessary and so needed, and that without her errors and poor choices, I wouldn’t be the business owner I am today. I wouldn’t have the business I have today, doing the work I do, completely fulfilled and in love with every aspect of it.

More importantly, I wouldn’t be as fully aligned as I am today, in life, business and relationships.

Each and every misstep brought me closer to this space, and every mistake and failure has taught me so much. I’ve built a really solid business with an amazing team, serving so many beautiful and inspiring individuals around the world. I’ve learned how and where I need support, what works and what doesn’t, who I really want to serve and support, and how to best deliver my work.

The mistakes are a huge part of my getting to this point.

I left my session feeling totally calm. That part of me that has been so afraid of repeating past mistakes finally feels at peace. Expressing compassion and appreciation to that older version of me… wow. Healing and release is one of my favorite things in the world. It allows you to grow more completely into the person you’re here to be, and show up more fully in your life, relationships, and work.

Heal and Release What No Longer Serves You

1. Recognize the layers that are at play.

It took me some time to realize that much of the fear, worry, and stress I had in my business came so heavily from my past experiences. I’ve done a lot of work around faith and trust, and I’ve felt so clear that everything is really aligning for me right now in an amazing way… yet I felt a lot of fear. Fear that it was all going to come crashing down more spectacularly than I’d ever experienced before. Fear that I didn’t have what it would take to continue growing, expanding, serving, creating, and showing up how I desire to.

You have to take pause and really dive into the heart of what’s coming up for you. Sure, life may be hard and stressful right now, things may be off, but is the fear, worry, stress, or overwhelm truly coming from this moment? Or is it coming from a past hurt, failure, or period of your life? Are you projecting beliefs you cling to onto people and moments that don’t warrant them? Dive in with curiosity (not judgement) and see what you uncover.

2. Heal the layers that need healing.

Sometimes in order to truly move forward, we need to forgive someone we never thought we could. Sometimes that person is ourselves, the one who made mistakes or hurt others. Sometimes we need to send light and love to older versions of ourselves, and show some compassion for what we were going through. Sometimes we need to rebuild trust, reconnect to our truth, and accept ourselves exactly as we are. This will look different depending on the layer that’s coming up. My favorite forgiveness exercise is Hoʻoponopono, the ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness.

Simply sit with the statement, “I love you. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” You can do this while tapping with EFT, in meditation, or while sitting in front of the mirror looking into your own eyes (a really uncomfortable and powerful practice). I’m also a huge fan of Acupressure for releasing attachments, resonance, and stuck emotions.

3. Release it.

Sometimes we become so attached to our stories, beliefs, and limited ways of operating in the world that it’s terribly uncomfortable to be without them. But if you want to experience a life, relationship, or work you really love, you have to release. Take all the pages you journaled on through your healing and burn them. Write a letter or make a call and create closure. Use Acupressure to remove it for good. Bring yourself back to the present moment, fully healed and whole, and engage in what’s in front of you right now.

When you’ve really worked through this process, you’ll feel more peaceful, focused, aligned, and on purpose. There’s no longer anything holding you back from doing and becoming anything you desire… except maybe the next layer.

4. Repeat as often as you need.

Here’s the thing… there are so many layers. Layers upon layers upon layers will come up for you as you work to create more joy, purpose, fulfillment, and alignment in your life. It’s natural! We pick up so much “stuff” from our childhood, as we grow up, and all the experiences that we have in life. All relationships leave energy and imprints, from family to friends to partners. All experiences leave imprints as well. With a world and people made up entirely of energy, it’s impossible to avoid being effected by what’s happening to and around you. Continue this process as often as you need, and remember that you’re not broken if another layer surfaces, you’re just human.

Take action now!

Where are you feeling stuck or held back due to past experiences, beliefs, or versions of yourself? Work through the steps above and start healing and releasing those layers.

The Art Of Domination: Model Release (A Domination And Submission Romance Serial)

From Bestselling Erotic Romance and Erotica Author Erika MastenThe First Title In A New Eight-Part Erotic Domination And Submission Romance SerialThe Art Of Domination: Model ReleaseA Domination and Submission RomanceReformed wild girl Iva Moreau is doing a passable job of convincing herself that leaving behind the artist lifestyle for the safety of suburbia and the respectability of academia is the mature decision. She suffers her job as an Art Department secretary at Vandergriff University, belittled by her supervisor and pursued by lecherous professors, as willing penance for her former life on the art scene and all the damage it ultimately did not only to Iva but to her family. But she can’t maintain that distance when her baby sister, Cheri, starts down a path all too familiar to Iva. Unrepentant bad boy Nolan Beal is the up-and-coming rock star of the photography world with a seven-figure salary snapping shots for glossy fashion magazines and his own nouveau noir erotic exhibition at the gallery in town for controversial and provocative art. His work explores power and the hypocrisy behind sex… and the masks people use to hide their true natures and desires even from themselves. Themes of domination and submission run as rife through his life and his liaisons with beautiful woman as they do through his photographs. When Iva shows up at Nolan’s studio to demand that the photographer stop using her younger sister as a model for his erotic exhibition, an instant recognition and attraction between them causes the very different masks they wear to slip. And they strike a deal. In exchange for Iva submitting to one modeling session for Beal, he will give her Cheri’s signed model release and relinquish the right to use the photographs forever. The perfect solution, giving Iva the chance to see once again how self-destructive the hedonistic artist’s lifestyle is while she is also saving Cheri from the same mistakes, and providing Nolan with the opportunity to crack the

Fela Kuti in an Unpublished Interview Conducted After His Release From Prison

The release of Alex Gibney’s new documentary on the late Nigerian pop star Fela Kuti spurred me to sift through my own personal journalistic archives to find an audiotaped interview I conducted with Fela in 1986.

And here it is, a transcript and audio clip of my mostly unpublished interview with Fela, perhaps the first one-on-one he granted after being released from prison in ’86.

On June 17, 1986, seven weeks after his release from Nigeria’s toughest prison, Fela spoke exclusively with me. And, bravely, he remained defiant against the military regime in Nigeria that had imprisoned him.

As is the case with many interviews that I conducted as a writer for music trade weekly Cash Box, the Q&A remained unpublished (except for a few lines published in the June 21, 1986, issue of that magazine).

Kuti is probably best-known today as the inventor of Afropop, a massively influential musical form that mixed jazz, rock, funk and revolutionary politics.

Fela was also famous for having fought against oppression in Nigeria. In the early ’80s he was imprisoned by his country’s autocratic regime for three years on what appear to have been politically motivated charges.

After he was released from prison in April 1986, he visited New York City, appearing at a Manhattan press conference on June 13, 1986 (my interview was not a part of that conference) before performing for Amnesty International at Giants Stadium in New Jersey on June 15.

Here’s an edited version of the conversation I had with Fela on June 17, 1986. (And here’s a link to audio clips of my conversation with him.)

Paul Iorio: It must be a big change for you to be out of prison now.

Fela Kuti: Yeah, it’s a big change for me. It’s a good change.

Iorio: Did you write a lot of songs in prison?

Fela: No. I just kept my brain blank. I left my mind blank in prison.

Iorio: You were transferred to Kirikiri. Was that, as they say, Nigeria’s toughest prison? And was it tough on you?

Fela: [Kirikiri] is one of the toughest prisons, but it was not tough on me. I lived through it. It was tough on the body. I lived through it….

Iorio: Do you think your spirit is stronger because of this experience?

Fela: Much more stronger.

Iorio:There was a period when you were in the hospital and they transferred you over to Maiduguri prison. At that point nobody heard anything from you for about six weeks. What happened to you?

Fela: They just took me to the prison … and it was very, very uncomfortable, very far away from everybody. And visitors weren’t allowed for me for about five months.

Iorio: Were you afraid for your life?

Fela: No, no, no, I was never afraid for my life…. We just try to face the government….

Iorio: Are you still going to speak out against the Nigerian government? … You’re not going to back down?

Fela: No, I’m not going to back down. I still intend to [protest the government]. I’m not backing down….

Iorio: Would you ever consider getting involved in Nigerian politics … ?

Fela: Yes, definitely.

Iorio: You mentioned that some of the military people have your records and like your music.

Fela: Oh, yes. Everybody in Nigeria likes my records.

Iorio: Do you think Amnesty International had a lot to do with getting you out of prison?

Fela: Not much. They tried to make people aware of it. But there’s not much they could do….

Iorio: While you were in prison, what was the worst thing that happened to you?

Fela: The worst thing that happened to me [while I was in prison] was that my record was produced by somebody else, Bill Laswell. And that really fucked me up in prison.

Iorio: That was “Live in Amsterdam”?

Fela: No, no, “Army Arrangement” … destroyed me completely, fucked my mind up…. When you’re in prison, you can’t do anything about what’s happening outside.

Iorio: But at the same time, people were being carted out dead every day; there were beatings.

Fela: Oh, yes.

Iorio: But it never happened to you?

Fela: No.

Iorio: Was that because everybody knew who you were?

Fela: Yes, exactly.

Iorio: You were more than disappointed with “Army Arrangement.”

Fela: Yes, Bill Laswell’s production. I had a production [before I went] to prison. So they abandoned my production and put in a new one…. They knew that [I’d given] instructions that it not be produced by anyone. They knew how I felt about it.

[I was unable to contact Laswell for comment on this claim. Of course, Laswell is welcome to give his side of the story in the comments section here.]

Iorio: How about “Live in Amsterdam”? Do you harbor any bad feeling that EMI released that instead of releasing “Perambulator”?

Fela: EMI did so many bad things. They didn’t look out for my interest at all…. They just wanted to rush something out…. “Live in Amsterdam” wasn’t a good recording. I only [made] it happen because the system wanted it, because the company complained … and demanded a live album.

[Any executive from that era of EMI is free to rebut Fela’s statements in the comments section.]

Iorio: Is there a Fela record that you consider is your best?

Fela: No, I don’t.

Iorio: Do you think that you could live a better life as a musician if you were to leave Nigeria?

Fela: I could never leave my home…. It inspires me a lot.

Playboy Will Release A Whole Issue Shot By Terry Richardson

Terry Richardson, the prominent photographer who has been accused of sexual harassment by several models, will shoot an entire issue of Playboy, which is set to come out in early 2015.

Richardson previewed some NSFW images from the issue, titled “California Dreamin,'” on his blog Friday.

A Playboy spokeswoman told Jezebel that “Yes, Terry has shot for the magazine many times over the years, and has been a great partner.” As the website notes, not everyone is so eager to embrace Richardson these days; the shoe company Aldo parted ways with him in June as the chorus of complaints grew louder.

Richardson recently defended himself as part of a feature story in New York Magazine that drew plenty of criticism.

Calle 13 Honored By NYC As Band Demands Political Prisoner’s Release

NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito (D-East Harlem) honored one of the most popular anti-imperialist bands in the U.S. on Friday as the group’s frontman donned a T-shirt demanding freedom for a jailed Puerto Rican nationalist viewed by many of the island’s residents as a political prisoner.

At Gracie Mansion ahead of Sunday’s Puerto Rican Day Parade, the elected officials bestowed René Pérez and Eduardo José Martínez of Latin hip-hop group Calle 13 with a proclamation praising the group for “igniting minds, imaginations, and conversations around the world.” It would have seemed an odd sight just a few months ago, during the city’s more conservative Bloomberg administration.

Pérez was crowned the king of this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade, which chose the liberation of Oscar López Rivera as one of its main themes.

“They say that this is the country of freedom and human rights,” Pérez told The Huffington Post. “But if this were happening in another country, like Venezuela or China, people would say, ‘That’s a dictatorship.’”

Noting that President Barack Obama had visited the Robben Island jail cell where former South Africa President Nelson Mandela spent most of his 28-year confinement as a political prisoner, Pérez added: “You’ve got a political prisoner in your own country.”

López belonged to the Armed Forces of National Liberation, known by its Spanish initials as the FALN, which committed bombings, killings and kidnappings during the 1970s and 1980s in its efforts for Puerto Rican independence. He was convicted in 1980 of seditious conspiracy and sentenced to 55 years in prison, with 15 years added later after he was found guilty of attempting to escape. He has spent 12 of his 33 years in jail so far in solitary confinement, according to Puerto Rican news agency Primera Hora.

Those calling for his release say that at 71 years of age in an era in which the violent struggle for Puerto Rican independence has fizzled out, López no longer poses a threat. The Chicago-area bombings in which López was connected killed no one, and were intended to damage property rather than hurt people, according to Puerto Rican Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi, who represents the island as a non-voting member of the U.S. Congress.

The issue has widespread support on the island. Both Pierluisi and Gov. Alejandro García Padilla, who belong to opposing political parties, have called on the Obama administration to free López. U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), himself of Puerto Rican descent, has also pressed for López’s release.

Wildly popular throughout Latin America as well as among Hispanics in the United States, Calle 13 has become known for its revolutionary politics as much as its eclectic rhythms and risqué lyrics. The band rages against the U.S. killing of Puerto Rican nationalist Filiberto Ojeda Ríos in “Querido FBI,” extends its solidarity to immigrants in “Pa’l Norte,” and offers an anthem to Latin American unity in “Latinoamérica.” Calle 13’s most recent album, “Multiviral,” features a guest appearance by WikiLeaks founder and U.S. government nemesis Julian Assange.

Though de Blasio refrained from discussing Calle 13’s politics in his public remarks, the band’s anti-imperialist message likely strikes a personal chord with the mayor. As a young man, de Blasio supported the Central American solidarity movement, traveling to Nicaragua in 1988 during the left wing Sandinista government to distribute humanitarian aid.

De Blasio’s support of the Sandinistas ran counter to that of the U.S. government at the time, which funded a right wing rebel army in Nicaragua known as the Contras during the Ronald Reagan presidency. A 1989 Human Rights Watch report describes the Contras as “major and systematic violators of the most basic standards of the laws of armed conflict, including by launching indiscriminate attacks on civilians, selectively murdering non-combatants, and mistreating prisoners.”

A corruption scandal had threatened to cast a shadow on this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade. An investigation by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman revealed in February that the nonprofit that organizes the annual event had mismanaged $ 1.4 in corporate donations, according to the New York Daily News.

But Councilwoman Mark-Viverito, the first Latina to serve as city council’s speaker, praised the reorganized board as she spoke to the crowd at Gracie Mansion on Friday.

“Their efforts and the efforts of a community that is demanding accountability are bringing this parade back to its roots,” Mark-Viverito said.

She applauded the parade’s new leadership for championing the cause of Oscar López, saying that previous parade organizers had “never wanted to highlight” demands for his release.

Mark-Viverito said she chose to honor Calle 13 this year to send a message that those in positions of influence should use their fame to press for social change.

“We have added responsibility to raise our voice,” Mark-Viverito said. “And that is what Calle 13 does.”

In addition to López, this year’s parade will pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the birth of poet Julia de Burgos, as well as the 65th Infantry Regiment, known as the Borinqueneers. Taking its name from the indigenous name of the island, “Borinquen,” the segregated Puerto Rican 65th Infantry Regiment fought in World Wars I and II and the Korean War, before being disbanded in 1959.

Batman vs. Superman Release Delayed To May 6, 2016

Warner Bros. chose the Friday before a holiday weekend to announce that Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” sequel will not come out on July 17, 2015 as had been previously planned. Instead, the Superman versus Batman film, which stars Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel and Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader, will now arrive in theaters on May 6, 2016. The new date puts the DC Comics adaptation in direct competition with an untitled Marvel film that Disney had already slotted in for that calendar position.

“We share the fans’ excitement to see DC Comics’ most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theaters in May 2016,” Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution said in a press release.

The sentiment was echoed by Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of international distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures.

“We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next Super Hero [sic] film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever,” she said in the statement.

In place of the “Man of Steel” sequel, Warner Bros. will now release Joe Wright’s “Peter Pan” on July 17, 2015. Hugh Jackman is reportedly starring in that film as Blackbeard.

As THR writer Borys Kit noted on Twitter, the first weekend in May has traditionally been a Marvel stronghold. Indeed every “Iron Man” film, “Marvel’s The Avengers” and Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” all opened during that frame. (This year, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is set for May 2.) In addition to the untitled Marvel film currently slotted for May 6, 2016, Marvel also has “X-Men: Apocalypse” set for May 27, 2016. (The “X-Men” films, of course, are released by Twentieth Century Fox, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, which includes the untitled feature, are Disney properties.)

By shifting the Batman vs. Superman film off its July 17, 2015 date, Warner Bros. keeps Snyder’s project away from “Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which is set for release on May 1, 2015.
