Roberta Einer Eschews the Runway, and Hosts Dinner at Claridge’s Instead

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Not every designer is taking to the runway this season, with names including Roberta Einer choosing alternative ways to showcase their ideas.
To mark the 10th anniversary of her label, Einer opted for a dinner held at Claridge’s hotel and a special-edition collection photographed by Andrew Vowles. That collection featured 10 new looks, each inspired by a different season from the brand’s past.
Guests at the dinner were all wearing Roberta Einer: The stylist Soki Mak dazzled in a voluminous red mini dress, while the likes of Phoebe Lettice Thompson, Maddie Waterhouse and musician Rainy Milo exuded elegance in sugary pastel ensembles.
“There’s a really big pressure for emerging brands to compete with big megabrands by creating more looks, selling cheaper products and delivering orders to stores earlier,” said Einer.
“I think many of us are realizing that there’s not much longevity in this, and that we need to find a way of working that suits each brand personally and makes us happy overall. It feels quite empowering to be able to take a step back and reconsider the strategy how I want my brand to grow.”
She said Brexit and the environmental crisis were two things on her mind when she created her

Miley Cyrus Models in Marc Jacobs Fall 2020 Runway Show

Miley Cyrus has made her New York Fashion Week fall 2020 debut.
The singer joined a host of other models for Marc Jacobs’ fall collection, which closed out New York Fashion Week. Cyrus modeled a black bra-like top with matching trousers and was holding a zebra-print coat.

This isn’t Cyrus and Jacobs’ first time working together. The singer teamed with Jacobs in 2013 for a charitable T-shirt which showed the slogan “Protect the Skin You’re In” inscribed on top of a nude Cyrus.  She later starred in the designer’s spring 2014 campaign photographed by David Sims. Last year, the duo teamed again to support Planned Parenthood, designing a pink hoodie that read “Don’t F—k With My Freedom.”
Cyrus also wore a look from Jacobs’ fall 2013 collection to the Met Gala that year, which celebrated its “Punk: Chaos to Couture” exhibit.

Zegna’s Life Beyond the Runway

Who says a show has to end with the finale?
Smart brands today are thinking of all sorts of ways to stretch, spin and leverage their show assets online and in real life.
As part of Ermenegildo Zegna’s collaboration with Leica, the brand sent four women photographers to shoot different moments of pre-show prep and the live event.
The photographers — Queenie Cheen, Roselena Ramistella, Véronique de Viguerie and Helene Pambrun — plan to tell their stories of modern masculinity through female eyes. The content will be used on Zegna’s social media.
In addition, the brand asked Doina Ciobanu to do an Instagram takeover of Zegna’s social to amplify the theme of seeing men through the eyes of women. The brand also plans to keep its show venue open until the end of January, and invite schools and members of the public to view the installation that was the centerpiece of the show. The multimedia American artist Anne Patterson made 3,500 ribbons out of unused Zegna fabric and suspended them from the ceiling of the foundry where the show took place.
The effect was that of a suspended cube — or a forest of fabric — and plays to the brand’s sustainability efforts. During the

Tom Ford Taking His Runway on the Road

Tom Ford is taking his next runway show on the road — to Los Angeles.
The designer, director and red-carpet king will show his fall 2020 collection on Feb. 7, two nights before the Oscars.
“The decision to show in February in Los Angeles feels very natural to me. It is my home and has a strong impact on the way that I live and work within both the fashion and film worlds,” Ford said. “This year, the New York Fashion Week calendar exactly overlaps Oscar weekend, and the last time that happened I showed in L.A. and it worked quite well. There is an excitement in L.A. on that particular weekend and the relationship between film and fashion is a strong one. In my role as chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, my main intent and priority is to globalize and bring attention to American fashion. There is truly no bigger or more prominent stage in the world at any given time than Los Angeles during the Academy Awards.”
Still, the decision for Ford to go west comes as a bit of a surprise, since the CFDA so far has been focused on bolstering New York Fashion Week, and

Prada to Stage Resort 2021 Runway Show in Japan

MIUCCIA HEADS TO JAPAN: Prada is heading to Japan to unveil its resort 2021 collection.
The runway show will take place on May 21, but the location of the event is still undisclosed. This will be the first show staged by Prada in Japan.
In June the brand hosted its men’s spring 2020 runway show in Shanghai.
Prada started presenting its resort collections with a show in 2017, when the luxury brand staged a runway event at the Fondazione Prada Osservatorio inside Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade. In 2018 and 2019, Prada headed to New York to show its resort 2019 and 2020 collections with shows at its headquarters in Midtown Manhattan.
The Prada resort 2021 show will follow the Chanel one to be hosted in Capri on May 7 and will happen just a few days before Max Mara’s cruise runway event in St. Petersburg on May 25.
While the full schedule of resort shows is still to be defined, the pre-fall calendar already counts a Dior Men show in Miami on Dec. 3 and a Giorgio Armani women’s show on Nov. 14 at the Armani Theater in Milan. On that occasion, the designer will also unveil the first high jewelry collection under

Karlie Kloss, Alicia Silverstone Front Row at Christian Siriano’s First Paris Runway Show

So nice, he did it twice.
New York designer Christian Siriano held an encore presentation of his spring 2020 collection in Paris on Wednesday, with a few famous faces in the front row, including his “Project Runway” co-star Karlie Kloss, and actress Alicia Silverstone.
Silverstone, who will next star in “The Baby-Sitter’s Club” revival, said she’s been friends with the designer for a while, and that they are travel buddies.
“I met him about four years ago. He asked me to come to a show and I hadn’t been to a fashion show since the one I had been in for Yves Saint Laurent when I was 8! The reason I went is he didn’t use fur, he didn’t use wool, and this was reason enough for me to show up. I felt so beautiful in the clothes, and he became a dear friend.”
The Paris show was the perfect excuse for a trip, she said. “He’s such a talent. I’m a huge fan of his work, and I’m so inspired by how he creates. I love everything he puts me in, and I also lie on top of him on planes.”

Swerving the Runway: Not Every Brand Needs a Splashy Show to Succeed

LONDON — Who needs the runway when there’s the digital screen, the salon, showroom, shop floor — or a cup of tea and a chat?
Brands such as Duro Olowu, Markus Lupfer, Goat, Needle & Thread, Bella Freud, Rixo and Giuliva Heritage certainly don’t need to walk the catwalk, and neither do scores of others, in London — and other fashion cities worldwide.
In an industry where the noise has become deafening, where sustainability is top-of-mind, and communing with the end-consumer has become second nature for so many designers, the runway — with a few exceptions — can look out of date, expensive, bad for the environment – and just wrong.
During London Fashion Week, which wrapped on Tuesday, protesters from Extinction Rebellion turned up the heat outside Victoria Beckham’s show and outside the official British Fashion Council venue.
The protesters, who want to put an end to fashion production and consumption, chanted their slogans — and pleaded peacefully with showgoers to quit shopping. They held up placards that said: “Repair, re-wear, rebel,” and “Enough is enough. Fashion = Ecocide.”
Early Tuesday, during a lively debate on the sustainability of fast fashion at the Royal Danish Embassy here, Judith Watt, the fashion historian and journalism

EXCLUSIVE: Telfar to Show Film in NYC, Runway in Paris

Telfar is heading to Paris.
The New York City-based designer will present his next runway show on Sept. 23 to open Paris Fashion Week. He won’t leave New York City empty-handed though — the brand will present a film on Sept. 6 featuring a collective of directors and writers including Petra Collins, Ryan Trecartin, Steve Lacy, Clayton Vomero, Ian Isiah, TORSO, Diamond Stingley, Juliana Huxtable, Jeremy O. Harris, Kelsey Lu, and others.
The nonlinear format film was shot in New York, Los Angeles, Ohio, and Paris among others.
“We think we are doing this out of necessity,” said designer Telfar Clemens. “I think it’s good for fashion as a whole to rethink how it works. This is really just an experiment happening live.”
Telfar was established in 2005, although the designer had been producing nongendered clothing since 2002.
In 2017, he collaborated with White Castle on a capsule collection after hosting his runway show afterparty at the fast food chain’s Times Square location in 2015. He won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in the same year and was awarded $ 400,000, and in 2019 was a CFDA Award nominee for Accessory Designer of the Year.

EXCLUSIVE: Dior to Stage Runway Show for Men’s Pre-fall in Miami

THE ART OF TRAVEL: Kim Jones is deepening his ties to the art world. The designer plans to show his Dior pre-fall men’s wear collection in Miami on Dec. 3.
Jones staged his first traveling men’s show last year with a men’s pre-fall runway display in Tokyo, featuring a monumental sculpture by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. He will hit Miami two days before the start of Art Basel Miami Beach, one of the highlights of the year for art collectors and fashion brands alike.
With collaborations with Kaws, Raymond Pettibon and Daniel Arsham under his belt, it’s highly likely that Jones will tap another artist to work on the show.
“When I do these collections, I always think about what’s going to go in the exhibitions about Dior or Vuitton, whenever, in 50 years’ time, so it’s kind of important to have things that can create a legacy for the brand further along the line,” he told WWD recently.
The choice of location reflects not just Dior’s long-term relationship with the U.S., but also the strategic importance of the U.S. market, which accounted for 23 percent of sales at parent company LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton in the first half of 2019.

Nazr Mohammed, Mike Magee, Joe Minoso Walk the Runway in Chicago

FOR A CAUSE: It’s not every day that pro athletes share the runway with TV personalities, philanthropists, socialites and even kids, but that was the case at the 89th annual Woman’s Board of Rush University Fashion Show last Thursday at Morgan Manufacturing in Chicago’s West Loop. Wearing looks from retailers like Chalk, P. 45, Neapolitan Collection and auctioneer Leslie Hindman, models included Chicago Bulls’ Nazr Mohammed; former Chicago Bear Hunter Hillenmeyer; Chicago Fire soccer player Mike Magee; “Chicago Fire” TV star Joe Minoso; Brittney Payton of WGN’s “Chicago’s Best”; Sarah Spain of ESPN Radio and other leading Chicagoans.
“This annual fundraising event is about fashion bringing together members of our community to raise money for cancer treatment,” said Sarah Bogan, fashion show chair. “It was great to see the families and friends of our models cheer them on as they walked the runway.”
About $ 500,000 was raised to support Bioinformatics, which combines the latest in computer science, statistics and mathematics with medical research for individualized cancer treatment. This was the fifth year of the Woman’s Board’s five-year commitment to raise $ 2.5 million for the Rush Cancer Center. The 10 Best Looks From Alexander Wang’s Last Collection for Balenciaga (Plus, Zoe Kravitz on the Runway)

The moment has come. Earlier this evening Alexander Wang took his last bow at Balenciaga as the house’s creative director. Wang’s final show was one of the most anticipated collections of the Paris Fashion Week spring 2016 season. But instead of going out with fireworks, the California-born Wang sent out a quietly exquisite collection of all-white clothes, set to a ’90s rap soundtrack of Notorious B.I.G.’s Going Back to Cali and Snoop Dogg’s Nuthin but a G Thang. The soundtrack alluded to his departure from Paris with this last Balenciaga show and that it’s back to the States for the New York-based designer.

While the collection was feminine and diaphanous from afar, a closer look will show you that subtle touches of Wang’s street style aesthetic are everywhere. Overalls in silk duchesse, flat mules in Chantilly lace, and drop crotch pants were interspersed between the siren gowns, for which the esteemed house of Balenciaga is known. Last, but certainly not least, Wang’s friend and supporter Zoe Kravitz took to the runway in a transparent lace dress in support of Wang’s big show.

And, in a touching final moment, the vivacious Wang took his biannual jaunt down the runway, skipping, running, twirling and taking selfies during a long and emotional bow. Here are our favorite looks from the collection:

Jeremy Scott Teams With Melissa on Runway Show Shoes

MAN MADE: If the music at Jeremy Scott’s forthcoming runway show in New York comes blaring from the speakers singing, “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic” — the infamous lyrics from Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” — it wouldn’t be without good reason. That’s because at Scott’s Sept. 14 show, models’ feet will be bound in plastic shoes — designed in collaboration between Scott and Brazilian plastic footwear brand Melissa.
Scott — who will make his fashion week appearance straight off a noted involvement with MTV’s Video Music Awards — designed two Melissa-produced shoes for his spring show. Further information regarding their make, appearance and retail availability could not be learned.
In teaming with Melissa, Scott joins the Brazilian brand’s past collaborators including Vivienne Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld.

Hot Off the Runway: Women’s Fashion Trends for Fall

If you want to be on the cutting edge of fashion for fall, don’t look to shop windows, look to the future! As I often tell my clients, if you see it in stores, it’s already out, which is why I keep an eye on global trend forecasts. This week at MAGIC, the semiannual fashion trade show in Las Vegas, I soaked up the latest in men’s and women’s lifestyle and apparel trends, color trends, and much, much more.

In a seminar led by Melissa Moylan, Creative Director of Womenswear at FashionSnoops (a trend forecasting agency), I got the scoop on global trends for gals next year (fall/winter ’16-17). So if you’re a buyer, a designer, or a forward-thinking fashionista, read on! FashionSnoops identified four major up-and-coming trend stories for fall: Method + Madness, Weekender, Raven, and Varsity Daze. And while each of these distinct trends is uniquely inspired, they do share some common elements–colors, fabrics, silhouettes, and details–you can look out for regardless of your affinity for any particular trend.

COLOR

Hues predicted to be popular for winter come from an earthy and warm, yet bold, color palette. Neutrals such as Ivory, Biscuit, Flax, Camel, Toffee, and Dust Grey form a supple base for the richer, more vibrant colors in the Fall ’16 color story.

Vintage hues and jewel tones also play an important role across global trend forecasts with colors like Forest, Navy, Plum, Crimson, Scarlet Fever (a bright, orange-based red) and Roast (a chocolatey espresso brown) laying a foundation of deep undertones.

Mid-tones and accent colors include Olive, Pea, Marigold, Tangerine, Cyan, Teal, and Indigo, along with my personal favorites (for their freshness): Baby Blue, Rose Taupe, Bronze, and Lavender Grey.

SILHOUETTE

The key silhouettes to look out for in ladies’ fall fashion are A-line skirts and dresses (in both mid-lengths and floor dusters), culottes, and wide-leg pants. Also predicted to turn heads are turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks, as well as oversized sweaters, blanket coats, and floor-length overcoats.

FABRIC

According to the forecast, textiles such as boiled and compressed wools, twills, tweeds, and chunky knits will keep you both stylish and warm when the weather start to cool. On the softer side, sheer satin, chiffon, cozy cashmere, and plush, teddy-bear-like fabrics (think: wearable Ted) will be white-hot for winter.

DETAILS & ACCESSORIES

Already dangling in your favorite boutiques, suede fringe will continue to play a prominent role in apparel and accessories. (Ladies, it’s time to let your inner cowgirl lose!) Lace and laser cut-outs are two details also forecasted to remain strong. Keep an eye out for vintage-y patches and appliqués; think old-school letterman jackets and sweaters, along with team pennants and athletic patches. In a nod to handicraft, big buttons, quilting, and patchwork will also be popular, while updated ditsies, graphics, and photography will spice up patterns and prints. As for footwear, the wedge bootie is predicted to give your seasonal style a kick!

So if you want your winter wardrobe to weather more than just one season–while still being on the forefront of fashion–start stocking your closet now with vintage-inspired colors and details; cozy, oversized knits; and cowgirl-meets-Little-House-on-the-Prairie fabrics and accessories.

DIVING INTO DIGITAL: Misha Nonoo’s brand will skip a traditional runway format this upcoming spring 2016 show season. Instead, the label will hold a “digital-only” presentation. The brand says that it will leverage Instagram to present its new designs.
Nonoo was not available for comment, as she is presently traveling abroad. Her spokesperson was unable to make an official statement in Nonoo’s absence, but did confirm that while additional details for the presentation are unavailable — the brand will indeed present a “full collection” online.
Misha Nonoo debuted her namesake label in fall 2011. It has since been nominated for a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award and the Woolmark Prize. The brand’s studio is currently a participant in the CFDA’s “Incubator” studio space.

Looking Back: Alexander McQueen’s ‘Highland Rape’ 1995 Runway

Designers from Vivienne Westwood to Oscar de la Renta and Isaac Mizrahi have long mined Scottish tartans for inspiration. But perhaps none is more closely associated with the theme than Alexander McQueen, who broke out with his seminal “Highland Rape” collection in 1995 and reprised it for fall 2006 with his “Widows of Culloden” effort, which he described as “very ‘Macbeth.’” WWD called it “a moment” that lived up to the hype — “fabulously creative and achingly wearable.” Afterward, McQueen said, “I wanted to show a more poetic side to my work….I find beauty in melancholy.”

This Runway Collection Is Giving Us Major Game of Thrones Vibes

Tonight’s Valentino fall 2015 couture collection reminded us that winter is coming.

The show, which took place in Rome, featured regal, moody looks that just screamed Game of Thrones. While it hasn’t been confirmed that designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli are GoT fans, we bet that Cersei, Sansa, Margaery and Daenarys would totally be fans of them. We took the liberty of suggesting gowns from the collection for each of the leading ladies in anticipation of season six.

1. Cersei
Valentino-couture-fall-2015-cersei

Last time we checked in with Cersei, she came back to the palace and she was pretty angry. This embellished gown in emerald and black with feather detail says: “I’m the ruler and I’m gorgeous—now, off with his head!”

2. Margaery
valentino-couture-margaery

Prison could never stop Margaery of the House Tyrell (and reigning queen!) from being stylish and sexy. This quintessential Margaery silhouette with plunging neckline is more somber than the usual, but no less fetching.

3. Sansa
valentino-couture-sansa

Little Sansa is growing up. Do they have sweet sixteen parties in the North? If so, she would look divine in this lace number.

4. Daenaerys
valentino-couture-fall-2015

The Mother of Dragons could always use another cape. And look! This one has a gold embroidery of her baby! How sweet.

RJ Mitte (A.K.A. Walt Jr. of Breaking Bad) Is Now a Runway Model

Yes, you read that correctly. RJ Mitte, the actor who played Walt Jr./Flynn, the meek son of drug kingpin Walter White on Breaking Bad, made his runway modeling debut at the Vivienne Westwood menswear show in Milan over the weekend. Note: These images are slightly NSFW.

Mitte, who is signed with Elite London, a UK model agency, opened and closed the Vivienne Westwood show sporting what looks like a literal breastplate in one look.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Mitte transform from regular ol’ actor to smokeshow model. Last year the 22-year-old, who similar to his television character has a mild case of cerebral palsy, starred in an ad campaign for the Gap shot by photographer David Sims.

Well, if the he doesn’t get back into acting, we now know why!

Gisele Might Not Be Retiring From the Runway After All

23-100-best-hairstyle-gisele-bundchen-beachy-waves

After days of frenzied coverage of what was widely reported to be Gisele’s final runway show, her longtime agent confirmed to The New York Times that the supermodel’s “final” show in Sao Paolo, Brazil, was not, in fact, her last. Instead, it seems, she will only be closing the chapter on her catwalking days in Brazil.

Anne Nelson, Bundchen’s longtime agent at IMG Models told The Times that the 34-year-old stunner Times would be “clos[ing] the chapter on the Brazilian runway…It is important that we continue to work on all kinds of capacities within the fashion industry.”

News of Bundchen’s runway retirement has been plastered over thousands of Web Sites and news outlets across the globe ever since the supermodel told a Brazilian newspaper that she was quitting her catwalking days because her body “asked her to stop.”

Bundchen herself seemed to confirm the news in a post on Instagram the day before the show, writing: “I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey. Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business.”

According to the Times story, IMG was inundated with calls about the supermodel’s runway retirement, and confirmed that the Brazilian bombshell is still wildly in demand.”I think a lot of people will still want her on the runway,” Nelson told The Times. “Will she want to do it? That’s a whole other story. It would have to come within an interesting angle, a unique opportunity. Will she do it? I can’t guarantee that. But that people will call for her, yes.”

It’s no surprise that Bundchen would want to limit her time on the runway—indeed, her catwalk appearances aren’t quite as frequent as other runway regulars—and the new positioning seems to open the door for special, one-off opportunities or appearances about which Bundchen feels passionately. So will she walk again or won’t she? It appears it’s an open-ended question.

Are you relieved that Gisele hasn’t completely the runway? Tell us in the comments!

Tim Gunn Was Surprised By ‘Project Runway’ Fame: ‘I Never Expected To Even Be On Air’

“Make it work” has become to go-to motto on “Project Runway,” but the man behind those now-famous words never expected to be so quotable on the show — or even on the show at all.

Men’s Hairstyle Trends on the Runway: Long Vs. Slick

A longtime favorite of stylists, slick hair was the go-to look at the fall men’s runway collections. An extreme slicked-back style with high shine, hair was given slightly more volume for an overly dramatic look. Although a bit predictable, this look has the potential to gain popularity once again.
Long hair is no longer a woman’s prerogative. Taking its cue from the rock music scene, this season’s looks included mostly medium and long textured hairstyles with a messy finish. This hairstyle is not expected to be a temporary trend, so anyone opting to grow out their hair will surely find plenty of inspirational images.

Is Gisele Bündchen Really Retiring From the Runway?

AU CONTRAIRE: Not so fast. After swirling media reports proclaiming the runway retirement of Gisele Bündchen — rumors had surfaced that she’d be walking her very last show during the upcoming São Paulo Fashion Week in April, for a brand called Colcci — a rep at IMG said that the information had been “lost in translation.” The rep stated that because no official statement had been made from the model herself, no conclusions should be drawn on her behalf — at least not yet.
“Gisele made no statement,” the source said. “The truth of the matter is that we still have a very strong relationship with several international brands for which [Gisele] may have to do shows — special projects — in the future. It’s true that she doesn’t do fashion week; she doesn’t do 17 shows in all three cities, and she’s not going to start. But that’s not to say that she might not work on a special project in the future. The word retirement is a little bit of an extreme word.”
Bündchen made her catwalk debut in 1996 for the Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani and Alexander McQueen shows in Milan and Paris and in more recent seasons

9 Seriously Striking Things to See From the Marc Jacobs Fall 2015 Runway

The Marc Jacobs show is the unofficial end to New York Fashion Week and, guys, it’s here! From the string music that served as sound track to the grand scene portrayed on a backdrop, it all smacked of drama and a lady of the manor with some serious secrets (and that was even before I got a chance to check out the clothes!).

The setting was pretty rad, bathed in sinister-looking red light as guests arrived.

A photo posted by @demetriozolo on

Also there? MJ-branded waiters with vodka.

The painted set deserves a close-up because, seriously, this is impressive.

I didn’t spy a single model walk down the runway without gloves, with some rising all the way to the elbow and others simply skimming the wrist bone (most were black, but a few were done in snowy wine). Amal Clooney affect, perhaps?

A photo posted by Stella Bugbee (@stellabugbee) on

And sure, most of it was seriously lady-like, but there was also this one saucy sheer gown.

A video posted by Bag Snob (@bagsnob) on

The bags were lady-like, top-handle styles and, hurrah, included some leopard!

A photo posted by Erica Sullivan (@ericacsully) on

Sequins were all over, including some floor-length gowns and evening coats, but they were most captivating when done as accents on the bottom of pieces or hidden inside folds, flashing as the ladies moved down the catwalk.

Nicki Minaj doesn’t always smile when she poses on the red carpet but how thrilled does she look here, backstage and surrounded by fresh-off-the-runway models?

A photo posted by hannahfouts (@hannahfouts) on

Kendall Jenner was there too, though as a model and not a front row guest.

Have you checked out the show yet? Thoughts? Did anyone else get scared (in a good way) by the music?

How One Designer Is Using ‘Role Models Not Runway Models’ To Empower Women

While New York Fashion Week featured many famous faces during its opening night on Feb. 12, it was the lesser-known ones that may have made the biggest impact.

Designer Carrie Hammer’s runway show “Role Models Not Runway Models” was a highlight of NYFW for the second year in a row. “Role Models Not Runway Models” featured female CEOs, writers, actresses and entrepreneurs.

“I think it’s important that women understand that beauty comes from power, personality, and accomplishments,” Hammer said. “The women we put on the runway are all at the top of their respective fields.”

Hammer walks the runway during the Role Models Not Runway Models show.

The models included Brandthropologie CEO Billee Howard, Nexus founder Rachel Cohen Gerrol, senior editor of Bustle.com Marie Ospina and Director of Public Affairs at Coca-Cola Missy Owens.

In 2014, Hammer’s show featured the first model in a wheelchair in NYFW and this year she included “American Horror Story” actress Jamie Brewer, the first model with Down syndrome to walk the runway.

“I think this challenges what we’ve been seeing for way too long. Uniformity. It’s time to see not just diversity — but reality,” Hammer said.

This Rick Owens Runway Is Completely, Totally NSFW

rick-owens-fall-2015-penis

Guys, this is not how I envisioned my Friday morning going. Rick Owens just showed his men’s fall 2015 collection in Paris and there were penises. Specifically, garments hemmed with a high arch in front so that certain areas got to see the light of day. I don’t think these could be legally worn anywhere, so, phew, but also, huh? Owens is an avant-garde designer who likes to make waves (remember his awesome spring 2014 collection with steppers?) and get us talking, so: mission complete.

Also—think he read Ruth Wilson’s thoughts on female versus male nudity?

Did anyone else see this and immediately feel her jaw drop?
